Comprehensive Eye Exams

Annual eye exams are an important part of preventive health care.  Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, so you might not know a problem exists.  Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss.

Dr. Calladine provides a thorough and personable eye exam.  She enjoys what she does and it shows.  Every patient is unique and she tailors the exam to each individual.  She takes the time to answer all your questions and makes you feel at ease.  She recommends yearly comprehensive eye exams.

Pediatric Eye Exams

As a parent, you may wonder whether your preschooler has a vision problem or when you should schedule your child’s first eye exam.

Eye exams for children are extremely important.

Early identification of a child’s vision problem can be crucial because children often are more responsive to treatment when problems are diagnosed early.  Infants should have their first comprehensive eye exam at 6-12 months of age.  Children then should have additional eye exams at age 3, and just before they enter first grade.  A school screening or a screening at the pediatrician’s office is not a substitute for a thorough eye exam.

Dr. Calladine is a mother of two young children and really enjoys working with kids.  She understands and will help facilitate your visit as necessary so that your child has a good visit and a pleasant experience.  We have the largest kid selection of frames in the area.

Medical Eye Care/ Emergency Treatment

Dr. Calladine especially enjoys the medical side of optometry.  She is a therapeutically licensed optometrist who can detect, treat and manage many eye diseases and conditions including Dry Eye, Ocular Allergies, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Hypertensive Retinopathy, Cataracts, Age Related Macular Degeneration and Conjunctivitis.  We always offer same day appointments for all medical emergencies.  We also offer after hours care, by calling our voicemail you will be directed to an emergency contact number.

Contact Lenses

Our office fits all types of contacts including single vision, contacts for astigmatism and multifocal contacts.  We also fit rigid gas permeable lenses, colored contacts and custom made contacts.  We have all types of modalities including daily contacts that you throw away at the end of each day as well as 2 week and monthly contacts.  Dr. Calladine enjoys fitting contacts, but her favorite is fitting multifocal contacts and contacts for children.

Daily contact lenses are what we recommend.  They are single-use lenses that are removed and discarded at the end of each day, and a fresh pair of lenses is applied to the eyes the next morning.  The more frequently you replace your lenses, the healthier and more comfortable your eyes will be.  They are convenient because no lens cleaning is required, and they are healthy because there is no day to day accumulation of lens deposits.

Eyeglasses

Our office has a large selection of frames to choose from for all ages and all types of personalities and preferences.  We have a large selection of children’s frames and sunglasses as well.  We welcome all outside prescriptions and we provide complimentary adjustments and minor repairs.  No appointment is necessary to come in and browse our collection of frames.

LASIK and Cataract Consultations and Co-management

Dr. Calladine works closely with TLC Laser Eye Centers and Dr. Andrew Holzman to provide laser correction as an option to her patients.  She will perform an initial evaluation to determine if an individual is a good candidate for laser correction and she provides pre- and post-op care for patients who undergo LASIK or PRK.

Sometimes a referral to a specialist is needed and Dr. Calladine works closely with many highly talented ophthalmologists in the surrounding area.  She co-manages before and after cataract surgery as well as other surgical eye procedures.  Dr. Calladine and the staff at Warrenton Eye Associates want the best care for you and will do whatever necessary to make sure the patient is always our number one priority.
